Joshimath is apparently sinking in some parts due to subsoil subsidence. However, many other areas in the region far away from Joshimath also show signs of sub-soil strain. Part-1 of the article takes a look at the problem through a scienst's eyes.

Modi govt has brought many laurels to the nation in the last one year that his political adversaries and opponent will surely try to discredit. Inflation has been under check and providing jobs to all Indian hands a real possibility. We are the fastest growing major economy and 5th largest economy in the world. The nation is fast marching towards ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. India has now a prominent status in the world and has been recently assigned the presidency of the G-20, setting up world agendas, trying to resolve many issues that the past presidents were unsuccessful.

Having suffered a lack of credible modernisation of military hardware for more than 3 decades, Indian Armed Forces has now received a substantial face-lift with well-planed procurement policies. Measures have been initiated to make the forces younger, more effective and more lethal. The present Govt has put the Indian Defence manufacturers on a path to making Indian Armed Forces a global power with self-reliance.

सुरक्षित वैज्ञानिक तात्विक आधार पर इसको विकासित कर अस्थायी तौर घर से निर्वासित लोगों के स्थायी पुनर्वास की ताकि देवभूमि के देवगण आध्यात्मिक दैवीय गुणों से सम्पन्न रह इसे राक्षसों एवं राक्षसी प्रवृत्तियों के लोगों से बचा सकें,पर्यटकों की आवाजाही से रोजगार युक्त एवं सम्पन्न भी रहें। यहाँ भी हरप्रकार के शैक्षणिक संस्थाओं का विकास हो सके। उम्मीद है कि सरकार और देवगन दोनों ही मिल अपनी इच्छशक्ति,कर्मठता, उदारता, सरकारी आर्थिक अनुदान से देवभूमि को संरक्षित विकसित एवं सुरक्षित रखने में सक्षम होंगे।

World Cup matches of a popular tournament like Hockey are a treat to the eyes. It is the responsibility of both FIH and the hosts to give wide media publicity to the 4-yearly event to attract international spectators. Media exposure and promotion to the event have been half-hearted at the best.
